Aaaah, the weekend.  Was so glad to leave the office today to escape work for a whole weekend.  Rather than go home like I usually do, I was going to be meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] arakinuk and going to play Laser Quest of sorts with other furs.  Sounded like a great plan... however it seemed the plans were not to go they way they were expected to go.  I ended up getting to Southampton Central station after a delayed train got me there only to find that Arakin didn't really know what was going on.  I waited around in the strong winds for a phone call to say what would be happening.  Eventually Arakin called to say we would be going to Salisbury, and so I went off to find his car and we set off.  Arakin suggested that as I'd be going to the LondonFur meet tomorrow, it'd be easier to end up at his place at the end of the day so it's a shorter journey to London.  As such, on the way to Salisbury, we stop by my house so I can get a change of clothes and some DVDs to watch.

When we finally get to Salisbury, we were met by [livejournal.com profile] kyyanno and showed into the Chinese buffet restaurant where [livejournal.com profile] branded_bunni and [livejournal.com profile] horizon_otter (Rapido) were, along with a bunch of other people I didn't know.  We nattered a bit, I paid £2.60 for a pint of coke and then we went to Burger King as no-one was interested in chinese :P.  After feeding, we went off to this "LaserQuest" place.

Everyone there seems to call it LaserQuest there but it's not actually a proper LaserQuest.  The story goes that there is this kids playground with multiple levels, ball pits, slides and chutes and the like and loads of drunk teens and young adlults would want to go play there.  This happened so often that the people who ran the place thought there might be a market for this sort of thing, but they can't just charge adults to go to a kids play area, that'd be silly.  So what they do is they turned it into a laser shooting arena in the evenings when the kids wouldnt be using it.  They turn the lights down, play generic techno music and supply everyone with boiler suits and laser guns.  Anyway, I played against Kyy, Arakin and the other people from the Chinese restaurant who I still didn't really know. By some bizarre freak of nature, I actually won!  I never win that sort of game.  I've no idea how I managed to win, I didn't think I did that well. My theory is that I was bad but everyoen else was just worse :P It was quite surreal playing as it was just a kids playground with the lights turned down.  There's loads of odd ladders and ways of getting from the lower level to the upper level... all far too small for me to traverse.  I daren't go down the tube thing from fear of getting stuck :P

Anyway, after that silliness, we all went back to Kyy's place and I socialised with the other people there.  One was in fact a fur from Sheffield called Spunky who was there with his girlfriend who was best friends with Kyy's sister... or something.  Anyway, they seemed to be a pretty nice bunch and I got on with them, even if they were mostly younger than me.  After sitting around for ages, we were finally to move on to the next stop, but as it was getting on, we were to sleep over at Bunni's in Portsmouth instead of going on to Arakin's place.  As it was on the way, I asked Arakin to stop over at my place so I could get a charger for my phone as the battery was running low.  After much thought, I decided I may as well just get the train from home and sleep in my own bed and bypass the whole sleeping over thing as it wasn't worth the bother now.

Anyway, less of this LJ nonsense, I'm off to bed now as it's late and I'll be going to the LondonFur meet tomorrow.

Wind!

It's rather windy all across the UK.  I was quite concerned to learn that the current wind speed, according to the BBC is 38mph, which, according to the Beaufort Scale, is on the border of Force 8! (Well, I guess it's not very strong, but it's certainly a struggle to walk against the wind at times)  It's supposed to be much worse up north...  I checked the trains and at the moment, trains are still running, no trees over, etc.  Fingers crossed I get to the LondonFur meet in once piece :)
