Root Beer!
Feb. 6th, 2006 07:08 pmThey so need to have root beer available over here in the UK. By that, I don't mean via import places either. Sure, Sainsbury's sell something called "American Root Beer" but I can assure anyone who's tasted it and thought it was nasty, that it is not Root Beer. I don't know why it's not available generally over here. I know many people get reminded of TCP or Germolene when they taste it in this country but the taste (Wintergreen) to me is delicious.
There's plenty other people like myself from the UK who like the drink as prooven by the number of UK furs who went for it as an option at restaurants and the like while in America. I was reading up on the net, and allegedly ADSA sell (or at least used to sell) 6xcans of root beer made by a company called Carter's. I can't easily get to an ASDA to check but I can't ever remember seeing the stuff at any time I've been to ASDA. I don't know if anyone can find out...
Anyway, someone who feels the same as myself has set up one of those online petition's to get A&W Root Beer sold in the UK. I doubt it'll come to much but I put my name down anyway in the vain hope it may make a difference. Obviously it helps to spread the word of such a petition, so if you want to sign it, it's at http://www.petitiononline.com/rootbeer/petition.html
To alleviate my cravings, I've ordered 24 x cans of Barqs Root Beer (the caffinated one) for £14.95 from American Soda (much cheaper than CyberCandy who are £8 more expensive, and out of stock), which hopefully should arrive on Wednesday.
What I need is a contact in the US who can send me over stuff :P

Date: 2006-02-21 09:51 pm (UTC)The online petition is mine, I've been having a bit of a root beer fuelled day today. When there are enough signatures up, I'm sending the petition to Cadbury-Schweppes, Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola. There just isn't any reason for there to be no root beer in England. Luckily, I live in Ashton-Under-Lyne and somehow there is an A&W restaurant here, so I can get draught root beer (and funny looks).
Thank you for your signature and for spreading the word, may I add you?
